Source Review Checklist
Section titled “Source Review Checklist”Use this checklist before adding a source to an Anatomy Steward Wiki entry.
Basic Requirements
Section titled “Basic Requirements”A source should be:
- public
- stable
- relevant to the entry
- appropriate for non-technical education
- clear about authorship or institutional source
- safe to link from a public educational wiki
Preferred Source Types
Section titled “Preferred Source Types”Preferred sources include:
- museum public education pages
- university public education pages
- public-domain books or plates
- introductory anatomy or osteology textbooks
- museum documentation guidance
- public science education resources
- rights-clear digital collection records
Sources to Avoid
Section titled “Sources to Avoid”Avoid sources that are:
- private files
- unclear image sources
- restricted documents
- forum posts without authority
- commercial sales listings
- technical preparation manuals
- biological material handling instructions
- graphic or sensational content
- content with unclear rights
Image Source Review
Section titled “Image Source Review”Before using or linking an image source, check:
- Who created it?
- Is the source public?
- What are the reuse rights?
- Is attribution required?
- Does it show sensitive material?
- Is it educational rather than sensational?
- Can it be described clearly with alt text?
Citation Notes
Section titled “Citation Notes”When adding a source, prefer short citations or source notes rather than long quotations.
Contributor Suggestions
Section titled “Contributor Suggestions”Visitors may suggest sources using the Wiki suggestion form. Suggestions are reviewed before publication.
