Measurement Field

A measurement field records quantifiable dimensions of an object or representation using standard units.

Examples may include length, width, height, diameter, scale, or image resolution, depending on the type of record.

Measurement fields support comparison. They help users avoid judging size only from images, screenshots, or screen display.

  • Check the unit of measurement.
  • Ask whether the measurement refers to the object, image, model, or digital file.
  • Check whether the record includes a scale reference.
  • Avoid comparing records that use different measurement methods without clarification.

Ask students to compare two object images. First let them guess size without measurements, then compare using measurement fields.
