A public reference is a book, article, museum page, public-domain source, institutional guide, or other source that can be checked by readers or editors.
Why It Matters
Section titled “Why It Matters”Public references make the wiki stronger and more transparent.
Museum Use
Section titled “Museum Use”Public references can support wiki entries, object records, and research queue topics.
Teaching Use
Section titled “Teaching Use”Ask students why a public source is easier to review than a private note.
Cautions
Section titled “Cautions”Do not submit private files, restricted records, or unclear images as public references.
